Theo's Maternity Pictures and 37 Weeks

We had such a great time taking these pictures!  After what seems like a forever long winter, we finally got a beautiful Sunday morning filled with sunshine!  It was a little brisk, but that didn't stop us from walking all over our historic downtown and posing for the camera :)  You'd never believe it from these pictures, but Truman is SO serious as soon as the camera comes out.  Some of these smiles took some persuading tickling!  Chris is the expert at getting Truman to smile and I love how these shots turned out!  Thanks to Amy at Moements Photography for capturing this special time for us.  It's hard to believe that our little family of 3 is about to become a family of 4!  We are SO excited for Theo to get here, but we are also trying to cherish these last couple of weeks as it just being the 3 of us.  You could say that Truman has been getting a little extra love and attention since his world is about to be flipped upside down!  But I know he will be the BEST big brother and hopefully we are giving him a life long best friend.  So, 3 weeks and counting until our family of 4 is complete!

Our little Truman as Cupid!

Chris was out of town the week before Valentines Day, so I had some time on my hands.  During that week I got Valentine's Day pictures of Truman taken to surprise Chris with.  I ended up using a couple of them and making Chris a card on snapfish.  If you've never used that website you should check it out.  It's user friendly and there are so many cute, free templates to choose from!  Chris loved his card!!
The pictures turned out so cute, I have to share!!  How she managed to get these pictures I will never know because he was a complete grump the whole time.  If you ever need a photographer, check out Amy at Moements Photography.  She is great and always so patient with Truman.  Somehow she always manages to capture his personality regardless of his mood!  We love her :)

32 Weeks (8 Months down and 8 weeks to go!)

Chris has been out of town this week for a work training so it's just been me and the little guy!  We've had a great week, got a few things done around the house but mostly just played and had good bonding time in the evenings.  I captured a selfie this week while Truman is was in the tub :)  I am feeling great.  This pregnancy has been so similar to Truman's.  I've had a tad more swelling this time around but I think it's just because I am constantly on my feet.  Aside from that all is well.  I am now going to the doctor every 2 weeks and soon it will be every week!  It has truly flown by.  This little guy is a constant mover.  I will certainly miss that feeling once he is here.

I love Truman's little head poking up in the background :)  We've had a great week, but we are both ready for Daddy to be home!  Really looking forward to this weekend!  Chris is finally off so we are heading out on Saturday for a day trip to Lexington.  We are buying baby furniture from a good friend of ours to furnish little babe's room!  I'm SO excited to get furniture in there so I can start organizing and putting things away.  We don't have a lot left to do to the room.  But before moving in the furniture we have to do some very minor touch up painting, clean the ceiling fan and shampoo the carpet.  Sounds like we are going to have a wild Friday night, huh?  :)  We had so much more done when I was this far along with Truman, but having him to chase after has slowed down the process this time.  It's crunch time though!  My goal is to finish the nursery this month.  We are hoping to have March to finish a few other things around the house and most of all enjoy the last month we will have as a family of 3.  Hoping to squeeze in a trip to the aquarium with Truman.  He has never been and we thought a trip with just the 3 of us would be nice before we have our newest family member to bring along!  We are so excited for him to get here, but also want to spoil Truman just a little bit since he's about to lose his only child status.  :)

On a sweet note for Valentine's Day, I made up this delish Valentine's Day popcorn mix last night.  It's so easy to make it could get dangerous.  You just spread out Rice chex, popcorn, pretzel sticks, and mixed peanuts on a piece of foil.  Then drizzle melted white chocolate on top and cover with festive sprinkles.  You've been warned...it's highly addictive!

Have a great weekend friends!

Truman 18 Months

It's embarrassing how long it's been since I've done a solid update on Truman.  There is so much happening and changing in our house all the time, it's hard to keep up; let alone write about it.  He is the best and more fun each and every day.  So here we go!  Already at 18 months old!!

 Age: 18 months

Birthday: July 31, 2013

Weight: 23 pounds

Length: 32 inches tall!  We are excited to start looking for a new car seat for him!  Can't wait to see how much he enjoys riding forward instead of rear facing.

Sleep: Truman sleeps like a boss.  He is usually ready for bed between 6:30 and 7:30, although there have been a few nights when the little dare devil has made it until 8!  What what! He sleeps throughout the night until about 6 or 7 the next morning.  There are times we hear him cry out in the middle of the night, but he goes right back to sleep. During the day, he takes about a 2 hour nap and that's it.  He has pretty much given up on morning and afternoon naps.  Now it's usually just one midday nap.  Too much going on to be sleeping all day :)

My Bedtime: His bedtime routine has been the same for several months now.  Between 6:30 and 7 we start bath time which he still really enjoys.  He does not however enjoy having his hair washed.  It's pretty amusing to see him fight the water the entire time you are sudsing him up.  He enjoys his toys, which now are beakers leftover from his Halloween costume as a mad scientist :)  After bath it's lotion, diaper, clean pj's and milk.  We read books sometimes at bedtime, but not always because they seem to get him excited instead of calming him down.  He has his milk and then he's ready to be in bed.  He's not much on cuddling unless he's really tired.  He has been on a sippy cup since he turned one year old.  It was no big deal either, I just put the bottles all up and gave him a cup and he was happy with it.  He liked the sippy cups with the soft top at first, but now he uses anything.  He especially loves to drink out of a straw or straight from a regular cup like a big boy!  We still use the white noise at night and I think we will for awhile.  It drowns out other noises in the house and traffic which I think helps him sleep better.  We will definitely be investing in one of these for the new baby.

Favorite Toy:  At the moment, Truman is loving playing with over sized Lego's that he got for a Christmas gift!  It's adorable watching him stack them up.  He also likes the broom and dustpan, his blocks, and really anything he can tear apart.  He is pretty easily entertained.  I can't wait for it to warm up outside.  Now that he is walking running EVERYWHERE, outside will be a whole new world for him.  He took his first steps on September 12th and has been in a near sprint ever since :)  He also loves his little red wagon and going for rides in our neighborhood when it's nice out.  Can't wait to welcome spring this year!!  And it's not really a toy, but Chris and I got him a bird feeder for Christmas.  Chris hung it right outside our living room window which is the perfect height for him to watch them eat and fly around.  He LOVES it!  We can be anywhere in the house and you can say, "let's go see the birds!" and he will take off hauling ass to the living room.  Cutest thing ever :)

Clothes Size: He is still in a very few 12 months clothes, but mostly 12-18.  The 18 month clothes are still too big but 12-18 seems to fit him well for now.

Diaper Size: Still in size 4 in Pampers Swaddlers.  I bought 2 boxes of size 5 in anticipation of moving to the next size...now I'm starting to wander if we will ever use them!

Milestones Reached: I think walking was the biggest milestone for us recently.  Also giving up bottles and going to the sippy cup and most recently giving up the pacifier.

Firsts: There have been lots of firsts in the last few months.  Walking was of course the biggest one!  He has also been without his paci for a couple of weeks!  He and the paci were getting pretty inseparable.  We hadn't really decided we were going to take it away from him, but I laid him down for bed one night and accidentally didn't give it to him.  This has happened only one time before.  That time he did fine without it all night, but when he saw it the next morning of course he wanted it.  So this time, after I realized I didn't give it to him, I hid them all and it's been no big deal! He had a little trouble with his daytime naps but aside from that it has been a breeze.  We are SO lucky with him!!  The funny part is that is seems like since we put it up, he has been talking non stop!!  Chris and I laugh all the time at his constant jabbering.  It's so adorable and he's saying a lot of new words now.  He can say, Daddy, dog, cheese, shoe, sock, bird, tweet, woof, juice, and I'm probably forgetting a few others.  He is STILL toying with saying Momma.  Maybe someday...  He also has 5 teeth with another coming through on the top!  Seems like it took forever for them to pop through and now he's getting a new one all the time!

Best Mood:  Always!  Happy in the morning, during the day!  Almost all the time!  The only time he fusses is when it's getting close to bedtime and he's tired.  I can't blame him though!

Happy New Year!

I have always loved this time of year.  Putting away all the holiday decorations, cleaning and organizing your space, and looking forward to what lies ahead.

When I think about what is in store for us this year, my heart skips a beat.  Baby Boy Elie #2 is due in just a few short weeks!  We are about to begin work on his nursery.  I've already been crafting and have some wall art made, but want to wait until it's hanging to share.  His room colors are going to be green and navy.  Here are a few pics of inspiration.

It's so exciting and scary to think about our Baby Truman becoming a big brother!  I know he will be a great big brother- but I do worry about how he will feel with a new little guy in the house.  He is still so small and needs us so much, I struggle when thinking about meeting his needs and the needs of a newborn.  I know we will all adjust, but it will take a little time.  Just Mama worries I guess.  In the mean time- we are busy getting our house ready for our newest little member.  I will be buying a crib/ changing table/ and dresser from a friend which is a huge help!!  His bedding has been ordered and the curtains are on the way :)  It will come together in no time.

Other exciting things in store for us this year is our first family trip to Florida!  Chris's brother and his family have been there for a couple of years.  We have tried to go before but the timing just hasn't worked out.  They have never met Truman, so when we go this time, we will have 2 little people for them to meet!  That is planned for the end of May, the little one should be around 8 weeks old for our trip :)

An exciting year of birthdays are ahead too!  Our Yorkie's, Heidi and Cali will be 3 this month. Chris will be 39 at the end of March, which translates into I need to start planning his 40th for next year right about now!!  And our little Truman will be 2 in July!  Where is time going :)  He has changed so much in the last few months.  His hair is seriously curlier and longer than I ever imagined it would be!!  I know we are venturing closer to his first haircut, but I don't want to think about it!  I think we can get by a little longer and I LOVE his curls!!  He is 17 months old now and more fun each and every day.  That boy is non stop, we got him a bird feeder for Christmas.  It's hanging outside our living room window.  He loves it so much!  It was such an easy and inexpensive gift, but I think one that will be enjoyed for years to come.  He already knows where the "birdies" are and takes off running to the window anytime they are mentioned.  SO sweet!!

We are ready for 2015!  Crossing our fingers that we will be blessed with health and happiness for another year.  Cheers to you all!

Truman's Christmas Pictures 2014

A big thanks to Moements Photography in Maysville, KY for these pictures.  She is always to patient and sweet with Truman.  He did great with Santa, he was a little suspicious at first, he actually ran over to Santa, snatched a couple chocolate chip cookies off his tray and took off running!  Ha ha!  He did come back though, and even patted him on the knee!  So sweet.  Hope you enjoy these.
