Truman's first flight!

Oh the places we will go!  Despite the amount of preparation and stress that goes into planning- I do love traveling and taking Truman everywhere we go!  As he grows and gets older I can only imagine all the fun places we will take him.  We decided that it would only be appropriate for his first flight to be to Rochester, New York; Chris's hometown.  It's about an 8 to 9 hour drive from where we live but we decided that since Truman can fly for free until he is 2, we will take advantage of it until then.  If we drove, we would have to stop half way and stay the night going and coming.  There's just no way around it with him still being so small.  So up, up and away we went!  I worried for days before about how he would do...and of course, he did great!  We had a few brief moments of trying to keep him quiet but aside from that he slept almost the entire time.  This was quite an accomplishment since we had connecting flights both ways.  AND...the weather was terrible so we were VERY delayed.  We should have arrived about 11am but instead made it about 4:30pm.  We sat on the runway for a long time waiting to be de-iced and take off.  All in all though- it was a great trip!  His Rochester family had a great time spoiling him while we were there :)

At CVG bright and early about to head to Rochester!

4 Months Old!

Hey ladies...

Age: 4 months old!

Birthday: July 31, 2013

Weight: His 4 month appointment was a little late due to weather- but we finally made it on December 9th.  So he was about 4 months and 1 week.  He weighed 14.6#!  Growing boy!  He continues to be in the 50% for weight, and 75% for height.

Length: 25 3/4 inches long

Sleep:  Truman is sleeping great.  He is now sleeping through the night.  He occasionally wakes up in the middle of the night but usually just wants his paci.  He's right back to sleep after we give it to him.  We are still swaddling him.  Not sure when we will stop doing that.  He seems to enjoy it and falls asleep so easily after his bottle.  He barely sleeps at all during the day if he's at daycare.  There's always so much going on there that I think he has a hard time settling down.  Most of the time it's a couple 10 or 15 minute naps.  When we are home on the weekends he usually takes a couple 45 minute- 1 hour naps in the morning as well as afternoons.

My Bedtime: Bedtime routine is the same.  We start bath usually around 8:30-8:45 depending on how tired he is.  He's usually fast asleep by 9:15, 9:30 at the latest.

Favorite Toy: Seems to be more interested in his activity mat and a few small rattles.  He loves a little ball that is small and he can grasp with his tiny fingers.  He also loves his sock monkey :)

Clothes Size: 3-6.  Venturing into some 6 months.  They all very depending on the brand!

Diaper Size: Size 2 in Pampers Swaddlers.

Milestones Reached: Trying hard to roll over!!  We had our first stomach virus :(  Ugh!!  No fun!  Truman got sick first.  A vomiting baby is a scary and very messy thing.  Then he graciously gave it to me, and I gave it to Chris.  We were all pretty pitiful the first weekend of December. After lots of Pedialyte, Gatorade, and chicken soup, we were all feeling better in a couple of days.

Firsts: He laughed for the first time on November 1st!  He was laying on a blanket in the living room and I was sitting beside him playing and whatever was happening cracked him up :)  Seriously the sweetest sound ever to hear a baby laugh!  Since then we can't get enough and are always trying to get a giggle out of him!

Best Mood: Truman is a great baby and really seems to be in a good mood almost all the time.  He's started being very happy in the mornings!  Love listening to him talk and coo when he first wakes up.  Usually does that for about 10 minutes before I get him up.  So sweet :)  It's amazing watching him grow and really come into his own personality.  He's changing everyday and I am so happy to be his Mama.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We have officially had our first big holiday as a family!  And what a great one it was :) We spent the day at my grandma's and Truman put on quite the show!  He was talkative all day and seemed happy being the center of attention.  As it goes, we ate too much food and had a wonderful day with our family.  Something about little Truman in our lives has made me so emotional during the holidays.  I feel so fortunate to have had him; with each day, my love grows for him even more.  Chris and I are beyond happy with our growing family.  I look forward so much to all the years ahead and the traditions we will create together.

Bald and beautiful :)

Tis the Season!

I've been inspired by other blogs I follow, and I am going to follow suit and create a holiday checklist!  This might be a little ambitious...but I do love the holidays and want to make them extra special this year since it will be little Truman's first Christmas.  Obviously he won't know the difference, but I will!  Besides, having him around makes everything better!!  So, here it goes!!
  • Pick and cut a real Christmas tree (we did this last year and it was exhausting fun!!!)
  • Have a festive brunch with friends
  • Enjoy Festivus at my sisters house (has become a favorite, if you aren't aware of all Festivus has to offer please see here.)
  • Have a holiday movie marathon (Elf, Home Alone, The Family Stone, ect.) with the fireplace roaring
  • Wear Christmas pj's while doing the above
  •  Have a candy making day with the usual suspects
  • Brave Black Friday and then have a great breakfast with my boys
  • Mail Christmas cards with Truman's precious little face on them
  • Create a happy holiday chalkboard display
  • Participate in our local Shop with a Cop (charity event)
  • Take Truman to our old fashion Twilight Christmas parade and to see Santa for the first time
  • Take tons some pictures of above
  • Take Truman on his first flight!  Going to Rochester, New York in December to visit Chris's family :)
  • Find new stockings for the 3 of us!  Hopefully monogrammed!!!
  • Put the dogs in their fabulous Christmas sweaters
  • Listen to my favorite Christmas tunes while decorating
  • Secret Santa at work
  • Make a special treat for Chris to take to his co-workers
  • Finish decorating, shopping, stressing, cleaning, cooking, in plenty of time to enjoy what will be our best Christmas ever :)

Happy Veteran's Day Daddy!

Baby Tru helped me make a Veteran's Day dinner for his Daddy!  Chris was in the Navy for 11 years, so Veteran's Day will always be a big deal in our house :)  We celebrated with grilled porterhouse, fried red potatoes, and steamed veggies!  It was a big hit!

3 Months Old and Happy Halloween!

Our Duck Dynasty family!

A little less than thrilled, ha ha!

Age: 3 months old :)

Birthday: July 31, 2013

Weight: ???  I'm dying to know how much our little chunk weighs!  His next doctor's appointment is December 6th for his 4 month check up.  I guess the mystery will continue until then.

Length: ???  I haven't measured him but I know that he is getting LONG!  He's outgrowing his clothes in length, not belly size :)

Sleep: Little Truman is a great sleeper!  Since about 11-12 weeks he has been sleeping through the night.

My Bedtime: We finally have a great bedtime routine established!  At 9 we head upstairs and start bath time which he has come to love.  He just looks around, smiles and coo's during his bath.  Still using Burt's Bee's Baby Bee body wash and shampoo.  I love the subtle scent and it's very gentle on his super sensitive skin.  After bath time, we rub him down with bedtime lotion, put on a clean diaper and pj's and his swaddle.  Then its time for his last bottle.  He is drinking about 4 oz at a time now.  Sometimes more but not usually.  After his bottle, we snuggle for a few minutes just until he gets drowsy.  He has started falling asleep quickly, but I try to get him in his crib before he is all the way asleep.  He usually takes his paci for a few minutes but then spits it out.  He sleeps until about 5 or 6 and then is up for the day.  He is in a great mood in the morning and has started "talking" in his crib when he wakes up instead of crying.  I love listening to him...seriously the sweetest sound ever.

Favorite Toy: He loves his sock monkey!  It's one of the few toys he pays any attention to.  He has also started to be more interested in a little rattle.  It's small and he can hold it which I think he enjoys.

Clothes Size: He can still squeeze into some of his 3 month clothes and 0-3, but they are getting snug.  He is so long!!  Most of his 3 month aren't long enough so we are just now venturing into 3-6 month.  They are a little big but at least give him more room to kick around and stretch.

Diaper Size: Size 1 in Pampers Swaddlers, but will be moving to size 2 very soon!

Milestones Reached: This past Sunday, on October 27th, he rolled over for the first time!  From tummy to back.  He did it twice and looked quite surprised with himself each time.  Super cute!  He seems to be enjoying tummy time more.  I think it must be cool to have a new perspective and view.  He also laughed for the first time yesterday!  It was so sweet.  I had him at work visiting and one of my co-workers made him laugh.  It was the sweetest thing, we all ended up in tears!!  I can't wait to hear him laugh again, and for Chris to hear him.  He has laughed in his sleep a few times and we crack up over that :)

Firsts: Truman had his first day of daycare and Mommy went back to work!  For the first couple of days I was back at work my Mom kept him at home for me.  What a blessing that was!  Very nice for me to be able to ease back into a schedule and not have to worry about getting him to daycare for a couple of days.  She came to our house so that made my first couple of mornings much easier.  I was so extremely nervous about getting ready in the morning and being to work on time.  Chris leaves the house super early so it's just me and the little man most days.  His first day of daycare was BRUTAL.  I literally cried almost the entire morning.  We have come a long way since then!  Hard to beleive that was only 3 weeks ago.  I can't say enough good things about our daycare.  The girls there are wonderful, they love and kiss on Truman like he was their own.  They are taking great care of him and he's always happy and clean when I pick him up.  It's nice because it's only 3 minutes from our house, and about 10 minutes from my work.  I can easily stop by and visit him when I want to.  Makes it much easier on this Mama knowing he is so close and in good hands!!

Best Mood: Truman is definitely the best baby ever :)  Ha ha, I'm not biased at all!  But really, it seems like he's in a good mood all the time now!  He is generally happy in the mornings when he wakes up and throughout the day.  Some days he gets a little cranky at night but that's usually after being at daycare all day and he's tired.  We joke about it being "witching hour" when he gets fussy at night.  I guess with all the activity at daycare, he doesn't sleep much there.  Too much going on!  He has to keep an eye on all the other babies :)  We are so blessed with Truman, each day gets better and better.  His sweet smile makes everything worth it.  We would do it all over again in a heartbeat!
