Can't wait to glide!

Here's a sneak peak of the glider we ordered for the nursery!  It will be very similar to this one.  I love its modern, clean lines!  Ours will have an patterned accent pillow and the piping will be slightly different.  Thanks to Buy Buy Baby for their custom orders and an awesome 20% off coupon!  Can't wait to see this baby in person by the end of May, beginning of June!

Operation Nursery!

It's safe to say my excitement to begin work on the nursery is almost too much to contain!  I've been scouring the internet for weeks searching for that perfect bedding set and accents for the nursery.  From the beginning, I knew I didn't want anything to "babyish."  I envisioned soothing colors and calming prints, neutral colors and a classy overall feel.  Pinterest is WONDERFUL for inspiration!  Now that we know baby is a boy, it didn't take long at all to pick exactly which colors would be best!  We have already ordered a gray and white patterned bedding set.  It's a light gray that is so calming and will match the carpet in that room perfectly!  We have a lot of work to do to the room, I will post before pictures so you can get the full effect.  In the meantime, I will be ogling over this precious bedding set!

How adorable is this?

And so it begins!

Our first purchases for Baby Elie
After a short afternoon of shopping we came home that day with plenty of clothes!!!  We can thank a couple of our friends that went with us for a lot of that :)  They couldn't resist either!  It's SO fun to imagine chubby cheeks and legs sticking out of these onesies!  Little man has a good start on filling his closet!

Football, Fishing, and Power Tools!

At Baby Belly Spa in Lexington, Kentucky

Baby Elie is a BOY!!!  I had my sneaky suspicions...not for any good reason, I just felt like baby was a boy.  Chris was pretty indifferent until those last few days before the ultrasound.  By then he had convinced himself baby was a girl!  Despite our instincts, baby's gender really didn't matter to us.  We are just so thrilled to finally know!  Seems like maybe it's starting to feel a bit more "real."

Moments before we knew!
For anyone even considering going to Baby Belly, I can't say enough good things about it!  They are so kind and welcoming there.  We of course took an entourage with us.  My mom and one of my sisters, a couple nieces, and a couple friends joined us for the exciting ultrasound.  We all went into the room together and got to watch the ultrasound on a big screen together.  It made the whole experience so much more special and personal.  Our technician really spent time telling us about the baby, and pointing out arms and other features before the big reveal!  I really thought my heart would explode when I first saw him.  This was our first ultrasound since 6 weeks and wow how things have changed!!  As soon as I saw that blurry image that resembled a baby, the tears rolled and didn't stop until after the visit :)  Sounds silly but I have been SO lucky and not had any morning sickness; I guess because of that I haven't really "felt" pregnant.  Strange but I thought, wow, that is a baby!  I guess I am doing this right!  The look on Chris's face was priceless, it warms my heart to see him so happy and excited about our new addition.  I could see visions of football, fishing, and power tools with his little guy dancing through his head.

After our ultrasound we went to lunch at Carrabba's and then on to shop and make our first purchases for baby boy!  It didn't take long for us to get a good start on his wardrobe!  We spent most of our time at Buy Buy Baby and Babies R Us!  So much fun to browse through everything "baby" and let it sink in that this is really happening!  I've never been so happy...now, without further adieu, Baby Boy Elie!

What!? A Baby!

I spent some time trying to decide if I was going to journal, scrapbook, or blog about this journey into motherhood.  After some deliberation, I've decided that blogging is the way to go for me!  I wanted to create a space to talk about this little joy that will me making his or her way into our lives in early August!  So, even though I'm a little behind, here it goes!

I'm 16 weeks pregnant.  My husband and I are so excited, but it of course still seems surreal!  Hopefully the reality will set in this weekend when we go to Baby Belly Spa in Lexington for our first ultrasound since 6 weeks!  A LOT has changed since then and we are so anxious to get a glimpse of our little baby!  We are hoping to find out if we are expecting a little guy or gal as well!  In the meantime, I will catch you up on all the BIG moments of this pregnancy so far!

We found out we were expecting on December 4th.  This was a total shock!!  Even though we were "trying" we weren't having any luck and I was actually scheduled to begin Clomid (a fertility med.)  Frustration had set in, at least for me- so when we found out we had already conceived, it was the best surprise ever!  We couldn't wait long to share the news with family and friends.  Here are some of the highlights in the first couple of months!

Every year Chris and I pick out an ornament for our Christmas tree.
Of course this one had to celebrate our new arrival!
Our very first ultrasound, done at 6 weeks!
